The Stewardess Board – Bethel AME Church

Purpose:

            The Stewardess Board exists to assist the Minister and the Steward Board. Caring for God’s House, keeping it beautiful and immaculately clean. The nature of the Board’s work make this auxiliary the right arm of the Steward Board and the Minister.

Duties:

To care for the Altar and the space in the Sanctuary which is enclosed within the Chancel area.

To prepare the Elements for the services of Holy Communion, Holy Baptism and appropriately tidy up the Chancel area after the Service.

To care for, polish, and clean the Baptismal Font, and provide its fine, white linen covering for it. Provide shawls and or towels for the Baptism.

To make provision for flowers and greenery for the Chancel, and candles for the altar.

To change Altar paraments to the proper seasonal color.

To assist in the worship service as needed and to assist the Pastor in delivering Holy Communion to the sick, and Holy Baptism, also.

The work of the Board is a sacred trust, and calls for women who are consecrated to the task, and who are willing to place love for Christ above personal feelings.

The Stewardess and Deaconess Board meets Friday before the First Sunday of each month at 7:00 p.m. For more information contact the Church Office
